South Africa is a significant wine-producing country, straddled by two separate oceans on either side, the country is characterised by distinct and varying landscapes, and microclimates that offer a diverse range of wine grape varieties. The majority of wineries are located in the Western Cape as this has a climate that mirrors that of the Mediterranean.

South African wines have long been successful in the UK market, due to their diversity, accessible price points and value for money. Traditional grape varieties from around the world are successfully cultivated here including some iconic chardonnays and pinot noir wines.
