Unafraid to experiment with the unconventional, their principal commitment is to quality on every level and in every detail. Boekenhoutskloof is a founder member of the Franschhoek Mountain Conservancy, an initiative to improve co-operation between neighbours, as well as to improve fire management and fynbos conservation in the valley. Their 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon wine has opulent floral and dark cassis notes on the nose, and a hint of dried thyme and black olive. There are well balanced, velvety tannins in the mouth and a plummy, lingering finish. A great, versatile match for many dishes including ribeye steak, braised stews

Always a wine with depth and power but this 2019 also shows wonderful precision with pure perfumed aromatics of violets and sappy cassis leaf, sweet cherry tobacco and hints of blackberry, fynbos and cedar spice. Deliciously cool and fresh, this wine shows a lovely acid frame on which there are opulent fruit layers of black currant, black cherry and black chocolate generously draped.
