An Evening with Elisa Sesti - Tickets £85.00
Wednesday 11th March at the Waud Handford Cellars | 6.30pm - 8pm
105 Old Brompton Road, London SW7 3LE

Sesti has been at the heart of Brunello's increasing popularity amongst our clients. Beautiful wines with a story to match. A family estate Planted in 1986 by astrologer Giuseppe Sesti and his wife Sarah who stumbled upon the abandoned property whilst house sitting for friends. Sesti is now run by their Daughter Elisa. Located on Montalcino’s southern slopes, Sesti’s 13 hectares are freshened by an eastward tilt, constant breezes and surrounding woodlands. In the vineyard, everything is kept as natural as possible with zero use of pesticides even outside sourced yeasts. The study of astronomy and lunar cycles also influenced Giuseppe’s approach in the winery - his work follows the phases of the moon when it comes to winemaking techniques - only racking wines during a waning of the moon. Ageing of the wines takes place in large Slavonian oak casks. With simple philosophy, if the fruit is good enough, then there is no need to mask the wine, but rather preserve the inherent qualities that Sangiovese Grosso draws from these meticulously farmed vineyards. The Sesti Family have not only created a beautiful winery and brought biodynamics to the forefront of the region, but have also uncovered 12th century murals and all sorts of living utensils, which are now in the process of restoration. It’s a truly fascinating place.

We will be showing 9 wines in total, including:
2021 Brunello, 2020 Phenomena and 3 older vintages of Phenomena including 2000, and 2017, as well as Sesti Sauvignon to welcome you.

We look forward to seeing you there!
