Product: 2023 Pieropan, Soave, Classico La Rocca
Pieropan"s La Rocca 2023 is aged on the lees for 15 months in a combination of French oak tonneaux and large Slavonian barrels. An intense straw yellow colour with golden nuances in the glass, the nose is exotic, with aromas of yellow peach, dried apricot, and almond, as well as sweet spices of saffron, ginger, and white pepper. The palate is warm, elegant and persistent on the finish. Often associated with mass-produced, unexciting and simple wines, the region of Soave in Italy’s Veneto region is often overlooked as a place for high quality wines – but the Pieropan family have continually strived for higher standards in both the vineyard and the winery since the company was established in 1890 and are amongst the most famous producers in the region today. With a number of vineyards in Soave crus, the wines of Pieropan are elegant and complex. The Garganega and Trebbiano vines are planted on a range of soils, from limestone and clay to volcanic, whilst low-yield farming ensures high quality grapes and high-quality wines. Food Pairing: Excellent with fresh pasta and risottos with porcini mushrooms or truffle, as well as salmon, scallops, chicken and guinea fowl.
