Merchant Review NR
A tight, steely feeling Cabernet Franc laced with graphite, spice and deeper red and black fruits, finishing on a fresh herbal note with very precise acidities. Lukas considers 2023 a super aromatic vintage, something he tries to lean in to via long skin contact and the gentlest of extractions. Breton comes from two sites: 75% from the vineyard next to Meerlust, where the soils are a mix of granite, clay and gravel and 25% from the Polkadraai Hills (Blue Gum Grove - Carinus), on decomposed granite. The final blend amounted to 40% aged in concrete and 60% in 500L barrel. 96 Points, Tim Atkin
