Product: 2023 Louis Cheze, Saint-Joseph, Caroline Prestige
Produced since 1987 in the Saint-Joseph appellation of the Northern Rhone, the 40-year-old vines that produce 'Caroline' are grown at an altitude of 300m. The grapes are hand-harvested and the wine is aged in 20% new oak for 14 months before bottling. The nose is a bouquet of spices, violet, and subtle notes of pepper whilst the palate is well-structured and full-bodied with a long aromatic persistence on the finish.
The Domaine Chèze is a family estate, located on the top of the hill of the Limony County, 60 km south of Lyon, in the Northern Côtes du Rhône. Mr Chèze started the venture with 1 ha of Saint Joseph and some grapevines in lease. Today, the entire domain is 30 ha and includes some highly esteemed appellations such as Condrieu, Saint Joseph and Vin de Pays. Resolve, curiosity and meticulousness are applied regarding the vineyard monitoring and the winemaking process making each vintage a new challenge, with the purpose of producing the embodiment of the terroirs. The Louis Cheze ‘Caroline’ is 100% Syrah, from 40-year-old vines, aged in 20% new barrels. There are aromas of violets on the nose with subtle notes of pepper.
