Product: 2021 Pio Cesare, Langhe, Chardonnay Piodilei
The Pio Cesare family has been producing wines for 135 years in its ancient cellars in the centre of the town of Alba. Founded by entrepreneur Cesare Pio, who was inspired to produce a small and select quantity of wines from the hills of Barolo and Barbaresco for himself, his family, friends, and customers. Cesare Pio was dedicated to the terroir of the Piedmont region and to producing wines of the highest quality. They were one of the very first producers to believe in the potential and quality of the great wines of Piemonte and to export to the UK. This Chardonnay has been aged in French oak barriques for almost eight months with extensive lees contact. It’s bursting with ripe papaya and pineapple fruit, and elegant oak touches, yet is still very fresh. The aftertaste is intensely creamy and soft with hints of hazelnut. Food matches: Sole Meunière, pork tenderloin with apple sauce, chicken alfredo or sharp cheddars. Serve at: 10-13°C
