Product: 2021 Comte Armand, Auxey-Duresses Premier Cru
Comte Armand is a serious red wine producer in the Cote de Beaune and famously the only owner of arguably the best Pommard vineyard – Clos des Epeneux. Originally known as the Domaine des Epeneaux, it became Comte Armand in 1828 when the vineyard and surrounding buildings became part of the family of the Count Armand.
The Auxey Duresses 1er Cru is a blend of two of the best premier crus from Auxey: Les Breterins, which is a south facing parcel with light white soil and fruit forward wines; and Les Duresses, which is a southeast facing parcel with brown clay and more dense and tannic wines. The complimentary wines are blended and see 18 months in 25% new oak to deliver a serious, powerful wine of purple- black colour, high energy and dark berry fruits.
