Product: 2021 Chateau Senejac, Haut-Medoc
The Sénéjac 2021 is aged in oak barriques for 18 months before bottling and is full of cherries, black olive and cocoa on the nose. The palate is medium bodied with noticeably firm tannins and more black fruit notes than the nose. Some earthy, chalkiness comes through with the oak on the finish. This wine will benefit from a few years in the cellar. This Château, a Cru Bourgeois estate at the southern end of the Medoc, close to the vineyards of Margaux, has a history that dates back to the 16th century. It was bought by Lorraine Cordier of Château Talbot in 1999 and has since been producing wines of outstanding quality. The vineyards are spread over 39 of the estates 150 hectares and are planted to 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 37% Merlot, 11% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. Food matches: Serve with pan-fried duck breast and dauphinoise potatoes.
