Product: 2021 Chateau Saint-Roch Brunel, Lirac
From 60-year-old vines planted at 300m altitude on the hillsides of the Rhône Valley, the Château Saint Roch Lirac 2020 is a deep garnet colour with violet hints. Extremely aromatic on the nose with notes of blackcurrant, raspberry, and blackcurrant. The palate is velvety and dense with pleasant, unaggressive tannins. Enjoyable now but will keep for five years. The winemaking tradition of the Brunel family goes back to the 17th century. Gaston Brunel, a famous négociant, acquired the Château de la Gardine in Châteauneuf du Pape in 1945. Fast-forward fifty years and the family began to see the potential of the terroir in the appellation of Lirac and subsequently acquired the Château Saint Roch, located in Roquemaure, in 1998. The wines produced here benefit from their proximity to the Rhône River, with their feet almost in the water, and represent excellent value for money. Food Pairing: Pairs wonderfully alongside steak with rosemary, or roasted quail with cherry and balsamic reduction.
