Product: 2021 Chateau Ormes de Pez, Saint-Estephe
Aged for 16 months in 45% new oak barriques, the Ormes de Pez 2021 is a deep-purple, garnet colour in the glass with aromas of powerful black fruits, sweet cherries and creamy new oak. The palate is medium-bodied with seamless, polished tannins, and plenty of freshness. You will be rewarded for lying this wine down for a couple more years. Owned by the Cazes family of Chateau Lynch-Bages, Chateau Ormes de Pez is located in the Saint-Estephe appellation of Bordeaux. The vineyard area spans 40 hectares, over two distinct terroirs. The Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc is planted on gravelly parcels of quartz and rolled pebbles, whilst the Merlot thrives on the cooler, sandy-clay soils. The estates "massal selection" program allows them to preserve the vineyard"s genetic heritage and formulate vine schemes based on historical plantings at Ormes de Pez – a program which allows the individuality of the terroir to shine. Food matches: Perfect alongside a rack of lamb, baked camembert and porcini mushroom dishes.
