Product: 2020 Vega Sicilia, Pintia, Toro DO
From a hot and dry vintage, the Pintia 2020 was aged in both French and American oak barrels and has an intense nose with lots of ripe dark fruits like blackberries and cherries, with some spice and herbal notes running through. The palate is rich, powerful and intense, but maintains elegance on the flavourful and lengthy finish. Suitable for drinking now but will also cellar well for the next 15 years. Founded in 1864, 118 years before the Ribera del Duero region was demarcated, Vega Sicilia are and always have been the pace setters in the region. Taken over by the Alvarez family in 1982, they are without doubt Spain’s most famous winery. By 1995, and with the creation of Alión almost a decade earlier, the family decided to implement another new project – this time, in the DO of Toro. The winery was completed in 2006 and, in the same way as Alión, Pintia was created as a unique wine, rather than a second brand. Food Pairing: Great with a rack of lamb, barbecued meats, and ham croquettes.
