Product: 2020 Poggio San Polo, Toscana Rubio, IGT
The Rubio 2022 is made with 100% Sangiovese and is aged exclusively in stainless steel vats. Deep ruby in colour, this is a modern, elegant wine with great freshness and lively fragrances of vibrant cherries, thyme and roasted herbs. The palate is medium bodied with fine-grained tannins, full of plums, berries and juicy red cherries. Situated on the southeastern side of Montalcino, at 450m altitude, the vineyards of San Polo span over 16 hectares of Tuscan terroir. The vineyards are planted on poor stony soils, composed mostly of galestro, a schistous clay that is very suitable for harnessing Sangiovese’s vitality by naturally limiting its yields. The cellar here is a fine example of ecologically sustainable architecture, designed to minimise energy consumption and environmental impact. Brunello di Montalcino wines are some of the finest in Italy, and the wines of San Polo are a fantastic example of this famous region. Food matches: Pair with antipasti, tapas, and tomato-based pasta dishes.
