Product: 2020 Philippe Chavy, Puligny-Montrachet Premier Cru, Les Pucelles
Being next to the Grands Crus, this is perhaps the most iconic 1er Cru vineyard. There’s more though as Philippe’s vines are right up in the south west corner at the junction of 1er Cru le Cailleret and Batard Montrachet. The few grapes that have ripened have come in tip top condition and so very little intervention, or sulphur was needed. Again it’s closed now but there is so much here to look forward to. Soft citrus pith, delicate apricot and a dash of honey. It’s so pure and so complex. Decant an hour or two before serving.
