Product: 2020 Goulee by Cos d'Estournel, Medoc
Exquisite, alluring and elegant, the G d’Estournel 2020 is a harmony of delectable fruit with a whiff of incense – refined and opulent. The wine exudes luminous memories of the Far East – an elephant is embossed on the label. This vintage is a blend of 90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and is marked by notes reminiscent of salty sea breezes and a hint of black pepper that lend it great energy. Located in the Saint-Estephe appellation, Chateau Cos d’Estournel is one of the biggest names in Bordeaux these days, making wines of international acclaim with a worldwide following. Without doubt the most successful estate in Saint-Estephe, the vineyards here border the famous Pauillac appellation – very close to Lafite Rothschild. Named after previous owner Louis-Gaspard d’Estournel, an adventurer in the late 1700’s, the estate and wines produced today evoke his taste for the exotic – in particular the Far East. The majestic chateau was architecturally inspired by his time spent in Asia. Since 2000 the estate has been owned by French entrepreneur, Michel Reybier, an active presence throughout the year and a major actor in the estate’s development. Food matches: Pair it with wood pigeon, roast beef or pan-fried duck breast.
