Product: 2020 Domaine Christian Clerget, Vosne-Romanee, Les Violettes
Christian Clerget is a Vougeot based domaine that has been certified organic since 2017 as per the insistence of Christian’s daughter, Justine when she joined. A traditional approach to winemaking is taking at this domaine with 30- 40 % oak used for an 18-20 month elevage.
Les Violettes comes from a 0.37 ha vineyard high up by the famous Bize whites of Vougeot. Deeper and more opaque with sultry dark fruit, saline and charcoal notes. This vintage seems a little more forward than in recent years as it already boasts some of the classic, velvet, almost milky texture of Vosne. There are so many dimensions here; seashell minerals, silky smooth tannins, soft milk chocolate, a hint of spice and a plunging depth of currant and berry fruit at the core.

These vines are high up by the famous Bize whites of Vougeot. Deeper and more opaque with sultry dark fruit, saline and charcoal notes. This vintage seems a little more forward than in recent years as it already boasts some of the classic, velvet, almost milky texture of Vosne. There are so many dimensions here; seashell minerals, silky smooth tannins, soft milk chocolate, a hint of spice and a plunging depth of currant and berry fruit at the core. A great vineyard and an alluring wine that will show well in the shorter term. 2025 to 2031
