A blend of 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc, the Rouget 2020 is aged in 30% new oak barrels and has aromas of black cherry, currant and sandalwood layered with tobacco, cedar and liquorice. The palate is full-bodied with velvety, soft tannins and exceptional balance. Rich and mouth-filling, the finish lingers on the palate – a hugely appealing wine. Located in Northeast Bordeaux, Pomerol is one of the smallest appellations in the region, as well as being one of the most sought-after in the world. Merlot is the dominant grape variety here, producing velvety, approachable wines with great ageing potential. The history of Chateau Rouget dates all the way back to the end of the Roman Empire, and to this day is considered as one of the leaders of the Right Bank. Since 1992, Chateau Rouget has been in the passionate hands of the Labruyere family. Originally from Beaujolais, the family have owned a winery in Moulin-a-Vent since 1850. Son, Edouard, now runs Rouget with the help of estate manager, Antoine Riberio, and his talented team. Located near Petrus, Le Gay and Eglise-Clinet, the vineyards of Chateau Rouget are planted to 85% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Franc. The soils are composed of clay and gravel with a desirable iron-rich subsoil. The average age of the vines is 40 years old, resulting in wines of great complexity. Food matches: Best served with grilled meats, roast chicken, and even hearty fish dishes.

Orders are typically processed within 2 working days and shipped by DPD using their Next Day service (delivery by the end of the next working day).

Orders to remote areas (e.g. Scottish Highlands and Islands, Northern Ireland) may be sent with DPD’s Two Day service (delivery within two working days).
