A striking overture of juicy black fruits, fruit salad chews, cassis and rose petals is Beychevelle opening with aplomb. The palate is less generous for now with notes of forest floor, turmeric, blackcurrant skin and earth. It’s a Jekyll and Hyde of a wine for now but make no mistake, there is plenty of blood and guts in this colossus. This wine is ‘ is not truly one, but truly two’! 2029 to 2044
