Product: 2019 Tua Rita, Sese Passito, Pantelleria
The Tua Rita Sese Passito 2019 is produced using the appassimento method – that is, by drying the grapes for about 10 days after they have been harvested, before pressing and fermentation. The resulting wine has aromas of dried apricots, oranges, and candied tangerines. The wine has great acidity and a low sugar content. When Rita Tua and her late husband bought a property in southern Tuscany in 1984, they could have never anticipated that they would end up heading the second generation of Super Tuscan wines for which they are now widely known. In 2016, they acquired vineyards on the Island of Pantellaria in the strait of Sicily, and with the help of Vinsola and Antonio D’Aietti, are now producing this stunning Passito sweet wine from Zibibbo grapes. The traditional bush-trained vines are grown on volcanic soils, and they produce just 1,000 bottles of this delicious wine per year. Food Pairing: Lovely with cheese as well as desserts.
