Jean-Marc describes the vintage as being a "combination of power and charm - rich but not heavy". Frost was a major problem early in the season, causing a dramatic reduction in yields that was exacerbated by cool weather during May (when flowering takes place) and drought conditions in July/August. Despite these challenges the 2019s have blossomed during elevage, and Jean-Marc says the wines “have since gained precision with terroir reclaiming its rightful place". Roulot`s wines reinforce our view that 2019 is an impressive white Burgundy vintage, displaying the domaine`s hallmark energy and mineral detail with a core of ripe fruit reflecting the warm summer. The only disappointment is the quantity of bottles available, the lowest since the tiny 2016 vintage.
