Product: 2019 Chateau d'Issan, Haut-Medoc
Produced from old vines in the middle of the Margaux appellation, the Château d’Issan 2019 is also aged in a combination of new and old oak barrels for 16 months before it is bottled. Aromas of fresh currants, sweet berries, and plums mingle with violets and cedar. On the palate, the tannins are powdery and seamless, the body is medium, and the finish is lovely and long. Château d’Issan is in the middle of the Margaux appellation, a truly privileged location, which explains the outstanding quality of its wines. The mild weather, regulated by being close to the sea and the Gironde Estuary, provides ideal conditions for vine growth. Spread over a huge area of 67 hectares, the estate produces around 280,000 bottles each year. The estate’s top wine was reportedly served at the wedding of Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henri Plantagenet, the future King of England, all the way back in the 12th century. Food matches: Pair this with dauphinoise potatoes and a roast leg of lamb.
