Product: 2019 Chateau de Beaucastel Hommage a Jacques Perrin, Chateauneuf-du-Pape
The top gun red wine at Chateau de Beaucastel, the estate that is the jewel in the crown for the Perrin family. Awarded 100 points by the Wine Advocate, 99 points by Jeb Dunnuck and 96 points from Jane Anson and James Suckling, this wine has taken the wine critics by storm. The classic blend of Mourvedre, Syrah and Grenache. Made only in great vintage years, Hommage à Jacques Perrin is produced from very old Mourvèdre vines, producing small quantities of intensely ripe, concentrated fruit. A superb dark ruby colour characterises this solid, intense wine. It develops magnificent aromas of black cherries, currants, spices, leather and game. Very fat in the mouth, it has a spectacular ageing capacity of at least ten years. Wow. Château de Beaucastel has long been regarded as one of the greatest wines in France. It is notorious for its elegance, balance and ageing potential. Beaucastel has an exceptional terroir at the Northern limit of Châteauneuf du Pape, exposed to the Mistral wind. All thirteen varieties of the appellation have been organically grown since the sixties. 60% Mourvedre, 20% Syrah and 20% Grenache.
