Product: 2019 Alheit Vineyards, Lost & Found, Breedekloof Half Bottle
Hanepoot vines (a type of Muscat) from the Breedekloof vineyard give this straw wine, made by drying the bunches on wooden slats a la Vin Santo. Fireworks of apricot and marmalade in the mid palate this is sweet to the point of saturated and double the sugar content of many a Sauternes.

A straw wine from a Breedekloof vineyard of Hanepoot planted in the late 1800s, thought to be the oldest producing vineyard in the country. A fabulously complex nose showing top notes of barley sugar, straw, mint, dried herbs and potpourri before preserved orange, dried apricot and caramel.
