Product: 2017 Chateau Montelena, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
Chateau Montelena has a celebrated history and pride themselves on questioning every aspect of their production with the goal of making everything just a little bit better than it previously was. With a 14 decade legacy comes the responsibility for further growth and they refuse to rest on their laurels. The estate is firmly of the belief that modern technology should not replace people or the art in winemaking but rather expand the creative potential. They are not interested in recreating a specific flavour in their wines year after year but capturing each unique season through the lens of their growing site. The goal is to paint with all of the colours, with Montelena expressed in every vintage, and a unique story living within each bottle they craft. The 2017 wine is a blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Blueberry, sage and cedar accentuate the opulence of the vintage before yielding to spicy black pepper and dried cherry on the nose. The firm yet supple tannins are persistent and mouthcoating, perfectly balancing the laser-focused seam of acidity that yields to the stony minerality that’s typical of wine from the estate. Vanilla and mint slowly come into focus on the finish, an extraordinarily complex and delicious wine.
Orders are typically processed within 2 working days and shipped by DPD using their Next Day service (delivery by the end of the next working day).
Orders to remote areas (e.g. Scottish Highlands and Islands, Northern Ireland) may be sent with DPD’s Two Day service (delivery within two working days).
