Product: 2015 Vondeling, Philosophie, Voor-Paarderberg
Vondeling Philosophie is a deep, dark, vibrant red colour. A complex and sensuous nose of dark chocolate, black cherry, raspberry and sundried tomato. Beautifully infused with aromatic truffle, vanilla pod and subtle graphite undertones. The palate is dense and bold yet shows some lovely classic restraint. Ripe plum and lilted cassis lead with underlying layers of cured tobacco leaf, salted olives and expressive, broad tannin.<br/><br/>Each year a celebrated artist is recruited to illustrate a rare Paardeberg flower in the medium of their choice. This unique rendition is placed on a numbered selection of Vondeling’s finest bottles to create a series of collectable and rare wine. This year, the choice was the rare and endangered, Pauridia Capensis, commonly known as The Peacock Flower or Star of Winter, to be our flagbearer. This brave and vibrant bloom, beautifully illustrated by Edwina Ellis, is an apt choice for such a bold vintage.<br/><br/>Welcome to the Voor-Paardeberg; a Western Cape wine region that has all the charm of an undiscovered country landscape, yet is easily accessible, approximately 45 minutes’ drive from Cape Town. The Vondeling vineyards run off the South-facing slopes of the Paardeberg Mountain where the decomposed granite soil, along with habitual afternoon South Westerly winds, give their wines a vibrancy in an otherwise warm climate area. The first vintage of Vondeling wines made from their own grapes was in 2005; there are now approximately 100 hectares of vineyard, mostly planted to Mediterranean varietals. The older vineyards, which include Sauvignon Blanc planted in 1983 and Chenin Blanc in 1986, have come into perfect balance over the years and provide some of Vondeling"s most valuable fruit which is turned into wines with a unique ‘fingerprint’ of origin from minimal intervention during the winemaking process.
Orders are typically processed within 2 working days and shipped by DPD using their Next Day service (delivery by the end of the next working day).
Orders to remote areas (e.g. Scottish Highlands and Islands, Northern Ireland) may be sent with DPD’s Two Day service (delivery within two working days).
