The Fourriers have 0.8 ha of this 4.76 ha vineyard at the top of the hill. The vines were planted in 1928 and Jean Marie reports very good survival rates up there so little replacement over the years. This vineyard seems to have taken on extra depth in recent vintages. It is an ancient quarry and so the bowl shape and loose stones give a sheltered and even heated vineyard. The 2004 was outrageous for the vintage, the 2005 a classic, 2006 is a humdinger, 2007 one of the outstanding reds and 2008 a sleeper.2009 shows incredible density and with fine, crunchy tannins. All a bit closed up at the moment but shows signs of being one of the great wines of the vintage. 2020 to 2029.
