Spanish Walk-Around Tasting

Spanish Walk-Around Tasting

Mar 5, 2026by Info Waud-Handford

Last night we hosted another walk-around tasting downstairs in the cellar at the Waud Handford Wines Shop in South Ken.

If you haven't yet been to one of these style tastings - they are really fantastic for trying a large range of wines in a casual and relaxed setting - no matter how pressed for time you are! Yesterday evening, 30 guests joined us to taste some of our favourite wines from Spain. We were showing an even split of 8 whites and 8 reds from a range of appellations including classics like Rioja, Rias Baixas and Ribera del Duero, to those a little less well known such as Costers del Segre, Mentrida, and Ribera Sacra. Spain is known for producing high-quality wines at affordable prices and the wines on show certainly reflected that - with the least expensive white pleasantly surprising us with its intensity, and at the other end of the spectrum, Muga's knock-out Prado Enea leaving many of us lost for words - a very special wine with a price tag you wouldn't mind paying for the quality in the glass.

Our next walk-around tasting is in two weeks time on the 18th March - where we will be sampling the Brunello di Montalcino 2021 new releases, and then on the 8th April, Charles and Ed will be showcasing some top wines from our Bordeaux collection. Hope to see you there!
