Similar to Barolo, Nebbiolo d’Alba must be 100% Nebbiolo, from a designated handful of territories with a strict minimum ageing policy. They can be foreknowledge of how the Barolos will be crafted for that particular vintage. The beauty of this vintage is the cascade of natural acidity that saturates your palate throughout. Nebbiolo is known for it’s high tannin, yet here it is continually submerged after every sip, thus reducing the perception of body. The nose is overflowing with a tasteful bouquet of hibiscus and rose that may usher some towards Turkish delight. The pomegranate core is delicate but enduring and will work well with unique gastronomic flavours such as truffle, crustacean or offal.

Founded in 1870, during the reign of Italy’s first King Victor Emmanuel II, Francesco Rinaldi is cemented in the history of Barolo. A traditionalist estate which gained a reputation for producing some of the most age worthy Barolo wines, the winery continues to be run by the family with Paula Rinaldi now in charge. Farming is at the extreme end of organic, the ferment occurs with indigenous yeast in ancient tini (tall oak vats) without any controls or mechanization. Paola continues to make beautiful wines within the great traditions of Barolo, avoiding new oak, preferring long macerations, and aging in large older Slavonian oak prior to bottling. The Rinaldi range offers a brilliant tour of Piemonte’s black varieties which are best distinguished by their acidity, tannin and alcohol.

Orders are typically processed within 2 working days and shipped by DPD using their Next Day service (delivery by the end of the next working day).

Orders to remote areas (e.g. Scottish Highlands and Islands, Northern Ireland) may be sent with DPD’s Two Day service (delivery within two working days).
