Product: 2021 Niepoort, Vertente, Douro
Settled from Holland in the early 19th century, the 5th and 6th generations of the Niepoort family now run an estate that has grown the length and depth of Portugal. Vertente, or slope, is largely from Quinta de Nápoles that was replanted in the 1980s with the aim of producing a fine red. Touriga Franca, Tinta Amarela and Rufete are varieties that promote elegance and purity rather than that jammy richness that the region is so well known for. Old vines contribute to that elegance, while the younger fruit lends it a youthful freshness. Mid weight with hints of spiced plum and black fruit, lovely purity and length. Delicious.
Orders are typically processed within 2 working days and shipped by DPD using their Next Day service (delivery by the end of the next working day).
Orders to remote areas (e.g. Scottish Highlands and Islands, Northern Ireland) may be sent with DPD’s Two Day service (delivery within two working days).
