Waud Handford Wines & Slurp Wines - City Wine Tasting
Last night we hosted an excellent City Wine Tasting at Balls Brothers in Minster Court for our first joint Waud Handford Wines and Slurp Wines tasting.
With 40 clients working their way through 50 wines, there was certainly plenty of choice on show - with wines from our original Waud Wines list from the South of France, ticking off some of our favourite estates including Mas de Daumas Gassac, Puech Haut, Pellehaut, Michel Gassier and Chateau de la Gardine.
From the Loire Valley, Domaine des Forges and Roger Neveu both impressed with two very classy wines.
We were delighted to have some representation from Champagne Laurent Perrier - showing a flight of wines including their Heritage Brut, Blanc de Blanc Brut Nature, Vintage 2018 and Cuvee Rose.
From Burgundy, we had a few classics, that included Talmard Macon Uchizy 2024 and Gerard Thomas Saint Aubin Champ Tirant 2023 as the highlights.
We hosted a Mucho Mas table - a winery from Spain that Slurp has had much success with - that even included some 0% wines too!
From Italy, a few Slurp classics that included some Freixenet Pinot Grigio and Sparkling Rose - plus a very popular Pieropan Soave - as well as Passori Rosso from Veneto, that has become a group favourite.
Two further Spanish tables proved popular - with the fantastic Mar de Frades range - some super Albarino and Godello, plus some sparkling! This table was shared with Clos Pons Alges 2018 and a twenty two year old Gran Reserva Rioja from Urbina, that is unbelievable value at under £40!
Ed Stevens hosted our New World Selection and Fine Wines table - that included Spier and Wakefield wines from South Africa and Australia, as well as the icon wines from Schloss Johannisberg, Tenuta San Guido, Fonplegade and Niepoort.
All in all, a very enjoyable evening - with friends old and new representing Waud Handford Wines and Slurp Wines.
