Fabulous Corporate Tasting at City of London Club
Last week we held a super tasting for 25 clients of Everest Re Insurance in the Members Bar at The City of London Club.
The theme for the evening, Tour de France, served alongside a very tasty selection of canapes.

This tasting was held on the same day as England's first outing in the Football World Cup, so we served Langham Corallian Classic Cuvee NV from Dorset as the reception drink.
We then moved onto the French wines - with one of our favourites - Mas de Daumas Gassac Blanc 2024 - a super wine from the iconic producer of the Languedoc.
Next up - Domaine Leflaive Bourgogne Blanc 2020, obviously from Burgundy. This is one of the most famous producers in the world - and the grapes for this wine sit on the boundary of both Meursault and Puligny Montrachet. This was one of the top wines of the evening.

Onto the reds - and we went to the Rhone Valley, and specifically into Chateauneuf du Pape to Chateau de la Gardine, where we showed their 2022 vintage Chateauneuf. Gorgeous blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre - from a brilliant year. This went down very well.
The last wine from the main flight was from Bordeaux - and we chose Chateau Fonplegade Grand Cru Classe 2021 from St Emilion on the Right Bank. This was the top red of the evening.

The final activity before everyone head home with a bottle of Langham fizz, was to take part in the Mystery Wine Competition - a quickfire game where all attendees take part in a blind wine tasting competition - where they have to fill in a multiple choice sheet, working out Region, Grape Variety, Vintage and Price. We had 3 people out of the 25 making it to the sudden death final - having identified it was Red Burgundy, Pinot Noir, 2021 and they just missed out on the correct price. The wine was Domaine Christian Clerget Chambolle Musigny Aux Croix 2023.
Very good fun and hopefully this will turn into an annual event.
